Increase Revenue by Layering Affiliate Marketing On Top of What You Are Already Doing!

If you are a vacation rental owner there are only 3 ways to increase your revenue for a property.

  1. Increase your price per stay: This will immediately increase your revenue but it could also lower your bookings due to the higher prices. It is always good to periodically evaluate and adjust your pricing structure but consider the impact on your occupancy rate.

  2. Lower your costs: You can increase your revenue by lowering costs. This might mean finding ways to refinance the property or finding a new cleaning service. This is great if you can maintain your level of service to your guests but it is likely not going to get you a ton of savings. The housing market will dictate whether refinancing will save you money as well.

  3. Increase your lifetime value per guest: Anytime you can increase the value per guest and/or keep them coming back, you increase revenue. With affiliate marketing, you can do just that. You can keep your pricing the same but earn commissions on products or services your guests might purchase while they stay.

Let me explain.

The Beauty of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is where you sign up as an affiliate for say Amazon and you share products via special links that you use or recommend. If someone clicks on that link and purchases the item (or anything within 24 hours) you get a commission on that item. For Amazon it can range from 1-20% depending on the category of the item. As an example, we liked a rug that we saw at one of our vacation rental stays. The rug was perfect for our living room. We got to touch it, see the colors, and we wanted to order it. Let's say it was $100. The vacation rental owner could get 4% on that purchase or $4.00 if we ordered it through their link. In addition, they would get anything else we order off of Amazon during that 24 hour period. That could add up quickly. Four dollars may not sound like much but if you could get $10-$40 per stay, that is added revenue with no capital outlay on your part. Many affiliate programs will payout more depending on the products.

How to Get Started

The only investment needed to get started with affiliate marketing is your time. That is a valuable investment but given the opportunity, it could really pay off. And you are not limited to just Amazon. Many, many brands and stores have affiliate programs. You can even partner with your local shops and service providers and arrange some affiliate relationships. They refer you, you refer to them and everybody wins.

The only possible downside to affiliate marketing is that it takes time and attention to be good at affiliate marketing. The good news is that once you set it up, it will only take a few hours a month to maintain it and keep it fresh. The course will tell you ways to gain a following and discover your primary audience.
